Celtic Challenge Cycle Ride 2008

July 18th, 2008

resizedcycleride20081A group of 16 cyclists and back up drivers will be setting off from Aberystwyth on the morning of Friday 18th July on an exciting adventure.

The challenge will be to cycle from Aberystwyth to Fishguard on the Friday a distance of 56 miles, to cross over on the ferry to Rosslare and then a short cycle to stay overnight in Wexford.

On Saturday the group will depart at dawn to cycle 100 miles along the Irish coast to the port of Dun Laoghaire where the party will then take the ferry to Holyhead to stay overnight before departing on the Sunday for the last leg of the journey of approximately 110 miles along the Welsh coast back to Aberystwyth.

The weekend should prove to be a real test of skill, endurance and determination at the same time as providing a memorable experience cycling along some the most glorious coastlines of both Ireland and Wales.

The Celtic Challenge cycle ride around the Irish sea is to become an annual event on behalf of Schoolchildren for Children which promotes health and fitness in our schools whilst raising money to benefit disadvantaged children worldwide.
