Busy days in East Africa

April 29th, 2019

Our CEO Iestyn Thomas has been visiting School of Hope projects in Kenya and Tanzania over the last few weeks, our team in East Africa have been keeping him busy!

First there was our annual sports day with the Centre for Urban Mission , where 314 young people from 6 different slum settlements attended. Well done to St Jerome – our very first School of Hope – for being the soccer champions!

Then there have been meetings underway to discuss our newest School of Hope, which is being hosted by the Billian Foundation. ChallengeAid are so excited to be working with The Billian Foundation, an organisation which empowers youths and supports communities in the slums through the power of music. 🎼🎼 They also cater for children living with disabilities.

As well as visiting many of our 43 Schools of Hope, Iestyn had time to  meet with Bravin and Ezekiel this week in Nairobi. These are two of our new #SchoolofHope supervisors, who are supporting the programme while they wait to take up places at University.

We couldn’t do the work we do without our fantastic volunteer superviors! Thanks to everyone who has hosted and met with Iestyn during his visit, we look forward to the stories on his return.
